Gillian Rose, Chairman Gillian Rose is a Vice President at New York PBS station, WLIW, a position she has held since 2004. WLIW is the fourth most watched PBS station in the US and Ms. Rose oversees national acquisitions, co-productions and sales. Prior to joining WLIW she had her own company for seven years. Her client list included the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, for which she handled US program acquisitions and program sales; Carlton Productions, part of British ITV company Carlton Television as its Director of Program Development, and CNET Television, working on international sales, co-productions and joint ventures for their weekly programs. Other long-term clients included Newsweek Productions, part of The Washington Post Company. She also produced a film for Discovery and worked on various production assignments in cable. Ms. Rose started her career in her native England as a journalist then Editor writing about broadcasting on a weekly paper. In 1989 she was hired by the (then) International Council of NATAS in New York and became its Deputy Director. She left four years later and became Vice President, International Sales and Marketing, for production/distribution company DLT Entertainment. In 1996 she started her own company. For seven years Ms. Rose was Co-Chairman of the International Emmy Awards. She was also a Director of the European Television Association of America and Vice Chairman, TV, of BAFTA East Coast from its inception. She is also President of The Rosemary Pencil Foundation, an organization that sends children in Malawi to secondary school on a scholarship program. She travels to Malawi each year to visit schools and pupils. |
