For many years BAFTA East Coast operated as a totally volunteer-based organization, with a hard working Board dedicating much of their time to establishing and then growing the Academy here. The initial officers were Christina Thomas [Chair] with Freddie Hancock and Gillian Rose [Vice-Chairs].

As BEC has grown over the years its membership has increased to more than 600 members who today enjoy nearly 100 pre-release screenings per year, many with exclusive Q&As featuring A-list stars, writers, directors and producers. As these and other events have grown in frequency and size, so the administrative needs of the thriving organization quickly demanded a properly engaged but small staff. With the recent open elections and the restructured and energetic new Board, 2006 saw the first formal part-time staff structure in place.

The current staff members are Christina Thomas [Chief Executive] with Jill Hawkins and Susan Wagner.
